History
The tradition of international material and metallurgical conferences METAL, which are held annually in May, was established in 1992. TANGER, Ltd. Ostrava organizes the conference with cooperation of other partners, such as VSB-Technical University Ostrava, Czech Society for New Materials and Technologies and others.
Since 2010, there has been a new concept in organizing of conferences, emphasizing the development of own web based conference system, as well as publishing of conference proceedings in internationally recognized Thomson Reuters Web of Science/Web of Knowledge database, etc. The result is the growing interest in the last two years.
20th jubilee conference METAL 2011 was held on May 18th - 20th 2011. The organizers moved the event to the Voronez Hotel in Brno. 379 participants registered for the conference, 326 arrived. 58 foreign experts came from Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa, South America and US. 283 papers and 53 posters were presented. The event was accompanied by presentations of 13 exhibitors and sponsors. Beside the busy schedule, the participants enjoyed the social evening, the beer party and the accompanying program - excursion to a hardening company Bodycote HT Ltd., excursion to Brewery Starobrno, ship cruise on the Brno reservoir with Castle Veveri tour, visit to the Chateau Slavkov - Austerlitz and Labyrinth under Zelny trh tour. The participants rated the conference as very successful.
