Application DEFORM to Simulation of Plastic Deformation

Co-authors SVIRIN Viktor

To check whether the offered intermediate KSMF are adapted to simulation of metal flow in preforms with multiply connected contour we made calculations for rectangular preforms with a round cutout. Technological cutout in industry is usually used to decrease the pressing force necessary for making a workpiece. By means of the technological cutout it is possible to control the metal flow. When the friction coefficients were close to unity, results got in DEFORM and PARSHTAMP constituted a match. The workpiece forming can also be affected by a technological cavity, located in the appropriate place of a workpiece. Such cavity can be made before the beginning of workpiece deformation. The shape and the position of the cavity exercise a significant influence upon the KSMF. Estimation of metal flow pattern on the basis of results got in PARSHTAMP and DEFORM showed that it is more preferable to make the spanner of a profiled preform with a cavity. Simulation in DEFORM confirmed the forecast outcome.
